Bugatti, one of the first brands that comes to mind when it comes to supercars, continues to introduce its new models. Introduced in 2016, the Chiron is now approaching the end of its life, and the French manufacturer is slowly saying goodbye to its iconic model with special versions.
Bugatti W16 Mistral Roadster arrives to be fastest convertible
The new model, named after the Mistral wind blowing in the south of France, rises on the foundations of the Bugatti Chiron. Bugatti has announced that only 99 units of this very special convertible will be produced. The desired amount for the car, which will start to be delivered to its owners in the first quarter of 2024, is 5 million dollars (about 90 million TL at today’s exchange rate).

The Bugatti W16 Mistral Roadster is also Bugatti’s first convertible since the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse launched in 2015. The model, which has a twin-turbo W16 engine that can produce 1,600 horsepower and 1,600 Nm of torque, promises important performance figures.
Mistral, which shares the same engine with the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+, unfortunately will not be able to reach as high figures as the Chiron due to its open top. However, Bugatti engineers are quite ambitious about their new models. Bugatti claims the new Mistral Roadster is designed to be the fastest open-top car.
When we take a look at the design of the vehicle, we see that although it shares its infrastructure with the Chiron, it differs greatly from this model. The new convertible is a nod to the brand’s iconic 1934 Type 57 Roadster Grand Raid. It is possible to see the traces of the classic model, especially on the windshield, the air intakes above and the roll bars. Mistral also takes yellow and black colors from these models.
When we look at the front of the vehicle, we see the grille, which has become Bugatti’s signature, in a much larger way. The horizontal LED headlights of the vehicle are among the most important details that distinguish it from other Bugatti models. Huge air intakes also reinforce the vehicle’s aggressive nature.
At the rear, the impressive design details continue. X-shaped LED taillights are separated from each other by wide air channels. The LED strip connecting the taillights is home to the BUGATTI lettering. Mistral’s design is completed with the huge rear diffuser of the open-top model and the dual-chamber exhaust positioned in the centre.
In the interior, we see that there is not much change, unlike the exterior. This part has the same design as its Bugatti Chiron in general. The “dancing elephant” motif designed by Ettore Bugatti’s brother, positioned under the gear knob in the interior, which is decorated with yellow upholstery and stitching, is also a homage to the past.
With the new Bugatti W16 Mistral Roadster, the era of internal combustion engines may be coming to an end in Bugatti.
