Military embargoes against Turkey are being lifted!

Prior to the tripartite meeting to be held by the Ministers of Defense of Turkey, Italy and the UK with the participation of Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu announced that the military embargoes imposed on our country by the UK were lifted. Similar steps are expected to be taken by Canada and the USA in the near future.

England became a partner in Turkey’s National Combat Aircraft project!

Britain’s largest Defense Industry company BAE Systems has announced that technology transfer has been made for the National Combat Aircraft.

Military embargoes being lifted: USA went to congress to give F-16s!

The cooperation between the UK and Turkey on the Defense Industry side is getting stronger. Announcing that it will provide technological and engineer support for the construction of the MMU (National Combat Aircraft), which is a work carried out with TAI’s own resources, the UK side may want to be a partner in this project.

HÜRJET

On the engine and other technologies side, BAE Systems, the largest Defense Industry company in England, and TUSAŞ have been working together since the agreement signed in 2017. Many engineers work together in this partnership, which even includes some level of technology transfer.

In addition, although it is aimed to use domestic engine technologies in both HÜRJET and MMU in the coming years, there are some rumors that Rolls Royce is also mentioned in the first step. Similarly, the name of Lockheed Martin of the USA is frequently mentioned.

MMU

However, the name Lockheed Martin was shelved for a while due to the embargoes imposed by the USA on the pretext of purchasing S400 to Turkey. However, the atmosphere seems to have softened a little with the effect of the Turkish SİHAs TB-2s used by Ukraine in the Russia-Ukraine war.

Moreover, Turkey’s desire to produce the SAMP-T, which is among the most advanced air defense systems in the world, together with Italy and France, made a great impression in the USA. There were even reports that this system could be produced in Turkey.

F-35

After this, it seems that the USA will not turn down our request for the F-16, even though it has completely removed us from the F-35 project. It was reported that a dossier on this subject was submitted to the approval of the congress in the past days and that Turkey is one of the biggest powers in the region that can stand up to Russia in the recent period, so the delivery of F-16s would be an important step.

Following these developments, Canada is expected to lift the embargo on the electro-optic reconnaissance, surveillance and target system used in CATS -TB-2s – which it brought to Turkey after the Karabakh war between Azerbaijan and Armenia. However, it should be noted that Aselsan has developed a very close alternative to this device in terms of technology and is now being used actively.
