So how did you meet with software technologies? ‘I started with Commodore 64…’

commodore 64

I decided to become a computer engineer in my sophomore year of high school. I also had a predisposition to programming languages.. I didn’t have a computer until I went to college. of a close friend of the Commodore 64 When I tinkered with the games on it, the small command lines, functions and mathematical calculations we gave, I thought that this job would progress a lot, and I decided that my computer engineering education would contribute a lot to me in the future. Mathematical science lies at the root of these, and I loved it too. When I run small commands and see ‘Okay, I’m going to study computer engineering’ I said. Then, during the university period, the computer – software world peaked and I realized that I had made the right decision. I tried to improve myself by writing some extra programs in laboratories on top of the assignments given to me at that time. Abroad, I tried to learn how this job is done in America, how doctorate programs are, what kind of careers people in Turkey and abroad have created.

‘I followed the careers of employees in companies such as Koç and Turkcell’

in our time The internet world wasn’t that wide either.. I followed the print media frequently. In Hürriyet’s Human Resources supplement Koç Holding I examined the promotions and careers of people working in such companies. So I said that this will be done with research. Working and researching will go in parallel… After my graduation, the internet world accelerated. After I had this theory in my mind, I said that I would proceed in this way, and I researched how senior managers in companies such as Koç and Turkcell got there. It is necessary to stay active constantly, to update oneself. Knowledge must stay warm and keep yourself active. I socialized and met new people by doing masters and masters. Of course, at the same time, you also know people from the industry.

You have studied computers and software for a long time. There are a lot of software developers in the industry that we can call ‘Rage’.

The schoolboy who knows the background of the reasoning can do it better. The people we call sarcastic attend so many courses and individual studies that they improve themselves in the world of internet and software. This profession is somewhat related to the predisposition of the person. The most important difference is actually the diploma. Their love and inclination to this profession may be more than a friend with a diploma. I have a lot of friends who are this way and at good levels. I can say that the difference of the regimented is that he loves more than the diplomat.. He loved it so much that he advanced there.

Firat Turan Engineer

I wanted to see and use the advantages of an international company. According to local companies conditions of international companies, their employees have a different perspective and I wanted to experience them. In the companies you work for, there is a target that pushes you in this direction as time progresses. My goal to go abroad There are, too, which may have an effect.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of working in a global company?

For its advantages; working rules, limits, ways of doing business are usually clear. A lot of work also values the quality of life of its employees. ‘I think working at home is more productive’

While working for international companies during the pandemic period, I worked from home for 2 years. You are a social person, if you want to have coffee at work and chat with your friends, you can’t see it. This is a life isolated from social life. There are also those who love this; There are those who are very disturbed. We mix business and social life a little more than in Western countries.. The Home Office thing has been around for years in America. When you work from home, you do not have to drive traffic, you can come to different places and work. For a while, you are looking for a friend in the office environment and you miss them. Now we have moved to a more hybrid environment. Many investments were also made in offices and campuses. in terms of efficiency I think the house is more efficient. How much of the hours we spend in the office are working productively? I saw that I could work more efficiently at home. Actually, according to my character traits, I want to work in the office more, but many of my friends also want to work from home.

You worked at Oracle for many years. Most of us actually know and know Oracle because of Java. What is Java according to you?

Java, the computing platform and programming language developed by Oracle

Java is a simple and high performance programming language. At the same time robust, safe and portable. Even though it is mostly thought to have similar features with C and C++, it is easier and more understandable to use than them. Java also enables to create higher quality programs. Programs coded in this language are more robust and reliable. Java is actually a simple language, but it has taken some complex features from the C and C++ programming languages. Developers benefit from Java’s superior problem-solving capabilities. Because it is an object-oriented language, it detects problems very quickly. Java is notable for being a network-savvy programming language.

Therefore, people who use only smartphones or play games away from the IT world today use the Java language for some applications or games on smartphones or computers. from the games they play because they know or hear. Many also download Java for their needs.

How do you evaluate the point reached by the software industry in Turkey?

The software industry in Turkey is not like it was 15 years ago, it is very active. 15 years ago, you couldn’t find people who understand this business in the IT departments of companies, but now There are people who are very experienced and very good in this business. The Defense Industry sector has advanced a lot. In the telecommunications world, very good work is being done in banking technologies. Here, it is very important not only to write code, but also how to use that product effectively. There are also roles such as marketing, analytics, financial analysis, business development, product management. When I was a fresh graduate, there was a software developer and a client. Now, very different roles have started to form between the software developer and the end user. Now the developer and operations team work together DEVOPS we say, end-to-end software engineering There is a concept called That’s how it has to be. The world has become global, the data is huge, they need to be sorted out. Artificial intelligence and data analysis also play very important roles here. It will go this way even more.
