How expensive will it be for consumers?

Dusseldorf On Thursday, the federal cabinet approved the government’s planned gas surcharge. With this procedure, the coalition plans to relieve gas importers. They have to buy their gas elsewhere than from the main importer, Russia, which has throttled the delivery volumes.

In the future, suppliers like the Uniper group should be able to pass on the increased costs to their industrial customers and private households instead of being left with it. This conversion is ultimately intended to prevent the collapse of the gas supply along the entire supply chain.

However, this undertaking puts a strain on private consumers, who ultimately have to pay more, reveals Handelsblatt editor Klaus Stratmann in an interview with Handelsblatt Today host Sonja Schlacht. Because the surcharge is added to the price increases that regional gas suppliers have already announced.

In today’s program you will find out what you can expect as a private household from the gas surcharge.
