According to the official blog post, The Graph’s hosting service now supports indexing and querying data from Arbitrum One, the mainnet distribution of Arbitrum.
This means that developers can create and publish open APIs, called subgraphs, that applications can query using GraphQL, a query language for APIs.
Network users voted and approved the transition to Arbitrum via a Graph Improvement Proposal. According to the announcement Wednesday, this is in line with the community’s desire for an improved network experience and lower costs of participation.
Tegan Kline, CEO of Edge & Node, one of the development teams behind The Graph protocol, said:
“The Graph users have continually sought solutions to improve transaction fee efficiency and other aspects of the network. After careful consideration of the options available, the ecosystem chose Arbitrum as its Tier 2 scaling solution to provide speed and cost-effectiveness to protocol developers and network participants.”
Like other Ethereum layer 2 networks, Arbitrum operates as a separate blockchain that works with ETH. Arbitrum aggregates large batches of transactions to lower users’ fees without losing all of Ethereum’s security guarantees and then transfers them back to Ethereum for reconciliation at once.
