Munich The Franconian sporting goods group Puma is increasing its management body again after the departure of CEO Björn Gulden. On January 1, Maria Valdes will join the board as Chief Product Officer, which will again consist of four people, as Puma announced in Herzogenaurach on Thursday.

In the future she will be responsible for all product groups except golf, for the creative strategy and the market launch of new products. Until now, the product strategy was a matter for the boss. The new CEO Arne Freundt, who was previously Chief Marketing Officer, will retain responsibility for marketing.

The 38-year-old Valdes has been working for the company since 2010 and was most recently responsible for the business with sporty leisure fashion (Sportstyle), Puma’s largest division.
