The name Wuhan has become synonymous with Covid-19 for many of us. As a matter of fact, this city, whose name we have perhaps never heard of until now, is now engraved in everyone’s minds because of the pandemic. As a matter of fact, it was recorded as the starting place of the pandemic wave that affected the whole world.
From this perspective, Wuhan, the city that was both the first to catch the epidemic and the first to survive the epidemic, is now making plans to benefit from the Metaverse in order to revive its economy, which has been affected by the pandemic.
The city of Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province, has included metaverse, Blockchain, cloud computing, geospatial information and quantum technologies among its 2022 work plans. Similar initiatives were taken in three different regions of the country, such as the Wuhan government, which rolled up its sleeves to integrate these areas into its economy. Hefei city in Zhejiang province, Anhui province and Wuxi city in Jiangsu province have also included Metaverse as their priority targets.
Chinese state media, on the other hand, has repeatedly issued warnings about the metaverse, as with many crypto-related fields. Small and medium-sized metaverse investments have been likened to “licking the blood from the edge of the knife,” but the country’s leading tech companies don’t seem to support this view too much.
As a matter of fact, recently, many famous brands are making plans to enter the Metaverse world.

On the other hand, as of Monday, more than 3,700 trademarks have turned to the metaverse area, according to the data of Qichacha, as well as technology giants such as Baidu and NetEase.
It is not known whether Wuhan will be successful in the said metaverse initiative, but at the point reached globally, it is an undeniable fact that the Metaverse will play successful roles in many areas.
