What happens when artificial intelligence can read emotions

Artificial intelligence (AI) will change the world. AI can already recognize faces, record voices and thus draw conclusions about people’s emotions.

In the new episode of Handelsblatt Disrupt, Handelsblatt Editor-in-Chief Sebastian Matthes and AI expert and bestselling author Kenza Ait Si Abbou discuss how this works and the consequences of emotional artificial intelligence.

AI helps people access their own emotions, says Ait Si Abbou. Because while robots take over the routine tasks, people have more time to turn to their own – human – strengths, namely their imagination, curiosity, empathy and innovative spirit.

Matthes talks to Silicon Valley correspondent Stephan Scheuer about some of these innovations. After the waves of layoffs within the big tech companies, there is a spirit of optimism in the valley again, says Scheuer. He explains how AI makes processes in companies more efficient and gives an outlook on the most exciting applications that Big Tech will come up with in the coming months.
