What does the iOS 16.1 developer version offer?

iCloud Shared Photo Library, which entered our lives with iOS 16.1 Beta 5, works more stable in the developer version. Users will be able to create separate libraries to seamlessly share Photos and videos with up to five people.

The Live Events feature will be available on Dynamic Island and lock screen for iPhone 14 Pro models. However, the company announced that iPhone owners can use the Fitness+ platform without an Apple Watch.

Apple introduced its new tablets with the press release it shared today. Right after, iPadOS 16.1 and macOS Ventura release dates were announced.

The update details announced by the company are as follows:

iCloud Shared Photo Library

  • You can create separate libraries to seamlessly share photos and videos with up to five people.
  • Setup details allow you to easily contribute past photos by start date or people in photos when you set up or join a library
  • You can use library filters to quickly switch between viewing the Shared Library, your Personal Library, or both libraries together.
  • Shared edits and permissions allow anyone to add, edit, favorite, caption, and delete photos.
  • The Share button in Camera lets you choose to send the photos you take directly to the Shared Library, or enable a setting to automatically share when other participants are detected nearby using Bluetooth.

Live Events

  • Live Events from third-party apps will be available to view on Dynamic Island and Lock Screen for iPhone 14 Pro models.

Fitness+

  • Apple Fitness+ will now be supported on iPhone, even if you don’t have an Apple Watch.

Purse

  • Key sharing allows you to securely share car, hotel room and other keys in Wallet using messaging apps like Messages and WhatsApp.
  • The savings account allows Apple Card customers to raise money in their account by depositing it into a high yield savings account.

house

  • The new smart home connectivity standard Matter enables a wide range of smart home accessories to work in harmony across ecosystems.

Clean energy

  • In cases where electricity with lower carbon emissions is available, you will be able to charge your device with the clean energy feature.

Bugs fixed with iOS 16.1:

  • The problem of displaying deleted messages in the Messages application has been fixed.
  • Fixed an issue with Dynamic Island access when using Accessibility.
  • Fixed CarPlay connection issue when using VPN.
