Electronic Entertainment Expo or as it is commonly known E3, has been one of the largest gaming events in the world for over 25 years. The event, held every year in the USA, hosted game companies and gamers from around the world and featured the announcements of many new games, software and hardware.
Today, a statement came from E3 showing that an era is coming to an end. In the statement made by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), the organization behind the event, on its official accounts, E3 will not be held again announced.
“Thank you for the memories”
With the statement made on E3’s official X (Twitter) account, the event’s farewell to the gaming world was announced. ESA thanked everyone for the memories in its statement: “After more than 20 years of E3, each one bigger than the last, it’s time to say goodbye. Thank you for the memories.”
What brought E3 to an end?
E3, which has hosted iconic moments over the years, has started to lose its power lately. The event was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic. It was held entirely virtually in 2021, and not at all in 2022. This year, it was canceled again after many game companies announced that they would not participate. Well Has not been physically held since 2019.
The reason for E3’s collapse is not just the pandemic. Many publishers now have online or physical their own activities started editing. In addition, Summer Game Fest, held in June, similar to E3, has become more preferred. After all this, E3 never regained its former greatness.
