Berlin Lower Saxony’s Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD) is pushing for a possible general vaccination requirement to suspect violations with sanctions. “Violations will surely be sanctioned with fines,” said Weil the Handelsblatt. “In addition, there is an abundance of public offers or even the workplace from which unvaccinated people could be excluded with a comprehensive 2G rule.”
A general vaccination requirement could significantly increase the vaccination rate. “However, a preliminary phase is required so that unvaccinated people can adapt to this obligation and catch up on the vaccination.”

Weil made the acting Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) responsible for problems in the current vaccination campaign. “At the moment there is a lot of anger about the vaccination campaign,” Weil told the Handelsblatt.
