Insomniac Games, known for its popular games such as Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank, recently suffered a hack attack. More than 1.3 million stolen files, corresponding to 1.67 terabytes of data, were exposed in the cyber attack carried out by a ransomware group. These files contained sensitive information about Insomniac’s upcoming projects and confidential details about its personnel.
Insomniac made its first statement after details of games such as Spider-Man and Wolverine were leaked.
In response to the hack, Insomniac Games broke its silence and expressed gratitude for the support it has received from the gaming community. Publishing a statement on X (formerly Twitter), the company explained the emotional impact of the cyber attack on the development team. The statement stated that the studio is focusing on internal support and the staff is coming together during this difficult time.
Insomniac Games announced that the stolen data included personal information of current and former employees as well as independent contractors. Additionally, early development details regarding the highly anticipated Marvel’s Wolverine for PlayStation 5 were also obtained. In fact, a playable version of the game for PC is currently floating around the internet. But don’t get involved. A timeline was also leaked as to when sequels to series like Spider-Man will be released.
The statement highlights the studio’s dedication to the development of Marvel’s Wolverine and its resilience in the face of adversity. Insomniac Games assured fans that, just like protagonist Logan, the studio would persevere. While the studio expressed its gratitude for the community’s support, it said it intends to share official information about Marvel’s Wolverine at an appropriate time.

Spider-Man developer Insomniac Games is struggling with a new hack attack. It was stated that 1.3 million files were stolen from the company.
Before the official response, the ransomware group had threatened to leak the stolen data within seven days, but opted to auction it first, starting with 50 Bitcoins (about $2 million). Sticking to their warnings, the group reportedly made approximately 98% of the stolen data publicly available.
