Wright publicly claimed to be the main part of the team that created Bitcoin and the identity behind the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. These claims were widely criticized by the media and cryptocurrency It is widely considered wrong by the community.
The email correspondence began four months before Bitcoin was officially launched. In the first email, Satoshi discussed Bitcoin with Back and asked for permission to quote Back’s previous articles in his Bitcoin Whitepaper.
In the second email, Back suggested Satoshi research an article called “B-money” by Wei Dei, a well-known cryptographer working on digital currency. Dei is often cited as a potential candidate for Satoshi’s identity.
In the third email, Satoshi thanked Adam and admitted that he had not read the B-money article before.
A day after their first email exchange, Back wrote back to Satoshi apologizing for still not reading the Bitcoin Whitepaper he sent him. He then directed Satoshi to another article called “Micromint.”
In the last email, Satoshi thanks Adam again and provides information about the official software version of Bitcoin. Interestingly, according to Back’s public statements, he would not reconsider Bitcoin until late 2012.
