Ukrainian military spokesman: Wagner is not short of ammunition in Bakhmut

A Ukrainian military spokesman on Monday dismissed claims that the Wagner mercenary force lacked ammunition in the battle for the town of Bakhmut. “There is no shortage of bullets. That is absolutely not true,” spokesman for Ukrainian Army Group East Serhiy Cherevaty said on Ukrainian television. There is more than enough ammunition, Wagner’s problems are more due to their high losses and lack of supplies of fighters.

On Friday, Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin threatened the Russian military with withdrawal because his people, who were leading the Russian attack on Bakhmut, were allegedly not getting enough ammunition and were being sent to certain death. On Sunday, Prigozhin claimed he had received assurances from the Russian military leadership for ammunition and equipment to keep fighting.
