Russia and technology companies have been confronting each other frequently, especially recently. Roskomnadzor sued Google.
Russia has signed 236 contracts to keep its people minimally harmed by internet censorship. The value of the contracts has reached $9.8 million since the day of invasion. Looking at the regions, the government spent $2.4 million for Moscow.
Krasnoyarsk follows Moscow with 1.8 million dollars. In addition, when looked at by sectors, “Legislative Agencies” witnessed an investment of 2.3 million dollars. Then, “Information Technology and Communication” with 1.9 million dollars and “Health and Emergency Services” with 5 million dollars took place.
On the other hand, the Kremlin has blocked more than 1,500 websites for their attitudes towards them. this being the case, Russian society uses VPNs to access these sites. Demand for VPN apps increased by 2692 percent compared to pre-war levels.
