The eyes of the whole world are on this live broadcast. Recently, the OSIRIS-Rex mission was successfully completed. The spacecraft approached the Earth and successfully deposited the pieces it collected from the Bennu Asteroid onto our planet.
Authorities received this mysterious package carried between celestial bodies. He made his first investigations. Finally, NASA opens the package from Bennu Asteroid in front of all enthusiasts on live broadcast. This mission will help unravel the mystery of the universe.
The cargo from Asteroid Bennu is finally being unveiled live!
Recently, O-Rex, the spacecraft of the OSIRIS-Rex mission, dropped a package to Earth that will shed light on the mystery of the universe. With NASA’s successful operation, researchers took the capsule carrying pieces from the Bennu Asteroid to the laboratory.
NASA first went after the mysterious dust on the capsule. Scientists thought that these dusts would belong to the Bennu Asteroid. Finally, this mysterious package will reveal all the secrets on live broadcast today.
OSIRIS-REx started its mission in September 2016. NASA allocated a budget of 1.2 billion dollars for this mission. Two years after launch, the spacecraft reached the 1,650-meter-wide asteroid. In 2020, the spacecraft managed to penetrate Bennu much deeper than expected. It collected the largest asteroid surface sample to date.
Scientists discovered that the door to the collection chamber was jammed with larger rocky materials, and some rock fragments leaked into space. They therefore decided to quickly hide the sampler inside the return capsule to prevent further material loss.
In this way, they aimed to return to Earth with as many samples as they could collect. In this mission, the goal was to bring at least 2.1 ounces of material back to earth. However, initial estimates put the OSIRIS collection at around 8.8 ounces.
The OSIRIS-REx mission has now concluded successfully. There is no stopping for the O-Rex spacecraft. After leaving his package on Earth, he waved goodbye to his home and set off towards his new mission. After this, it changed its new course to Apophis Asteroid.
Of course, the name of the mission has also been updated. The O-Rex spacecraft will conduct examinations of the Apophis Asteroid for the OSIRIS-APEX mission. With this mission, researchers will investigate the possibility of this asteroid colliding with Earth. Because according to research, Apophis Asteroid will come within 32,000 miles of the Earth’s surface. In other words, it will come as close to the Earth as the Moon.
