NASA will broadcast live for Bennu asteroid
OSIRIS-REx, called NASA’s first complex operation, was designed to take samples from the asteroid called Bennu. The operation, which started in 2016, was finally successful with the samples being brought to Earth.
The capsule collecting the samples was briefly kept in a clean room near the landing site and then transported to the Johnson Space Center in Houston. Announcing that the samples obtained will be opened at the Johnson Space Center, officials stated that this study will allow us to obtain more information about space.
Explaining that they can detect the formation of the solar system with the samples obtained, NASA official Bill Nelson said, “This mission will also allow us to gain insight into how life on Earth began. “We will present you with the largest asteroid sample ever.” He stated:
Scientists are currently conducting initial analysis of the sample, which is expected to provide a fundamental understanding of the Bennu material. Analytical tools used include scanning electron microscopy (SEM), infrared measurements and x-ray diffraction (XRD) to provide a better understanding of the sample.
