NASA reached a speed of 25 Mbps from a distance of 226 million km!

A fast internet is probably among the common wishes of all technology enthusiasts. Some of today’s internet providers can offer us truly high-speed internet experiences. However, there is always the story of “NASA internet speed” that circulates as an urban legend. In this news, we will not tell you about NASA’s internet speed or quota. But what if we say 25 Mpbs from NASA 226 million kilometers away? Here are the details…

What is the average speed of the internet we use today? Turkey’s average internet speeds have been revealed in recent research. While the average download internet speed of our country was 41.49 Mpbs (for fixed internet), the average upload speed was 11.10 Mpbs. If you are curious about other details of the research, you can read our related news by clicking here.

Now the issue may come back to NASA. We shared Turkey’s average data with you so that you can make comparisons. Because NASA reached a full 25 Mbps speed in a test that transmitted data back to Earth from 140 million miles (226 million kilometers) away. So how was the test on the subject done?

First, the test platform was mounted on the Psyche probe, which was heading towards an asteroid of the same name. The Psyche probe set off on December 11. The spacecraft performed the first test when it was 19 million miles (30 million kilometers) away and achieved NASA internet speeds of 267 Mbps.

The second test was conducted a little further away, at 140 million miles (226 million kilometers) away. In this test, the probe was asked to send important engineering data recorded by the spacecraft during its journey to Earth. In the tests, NASA received this data from the vehicle at a distance of 140 million miles with an average speed of 25 Mpbs in total.
