Dusseldorf Too slow, too time-consuming, too complicated – the complaints about the German bureaucracy could be continued indefinitely. In international comparison, there are not that many civil servants and employees in German offices. So is it because of their effectiveness? In any case, many citizens would like to see greater digitization of the authorities.
The state’s administrative expenses have fallen noticeably in recent years – also an indication of the pressure to save that the municipalities in particular are exposed to. Only recently did the federal, state and local governments show a little more willingness to spend again.
Many citizens wish for a more effective and better working public administration. In order to achieve this, the desire for greater digitization of official work is at the top of the to-do list.
