Munich The building materials giant Heidelberg Cement wants to appear under the name “Heidelberg Materials” in the future. With the new brand image presented on Tuesday, the group wants to make it clear that it not only produces cement and is increasingly using CO2-free, climate-friendly building materials.

“We are proud of our cement business, but the company’s range of services goes far beyond cement,” said CEO Dominik vonAINTH in Heidelberg. At group level, the brand and the new logo with a stylized “h” in two shades of green on a white background should be introduced immediately, and German and foreign subsidiaries are to be renamed accordingly from 2023 onwards.

Nothing will initially change in the official company name: “The parent company of Heidelberg Materials will remain Heidelberg Cement AG,” says the small print of the announcement. However, that is likely to change over time.

The company has officially borne the name for 20 years: at that time, Heidelberger Cement AG had been renamed. Founded in 1874, the company has had numerous name changes. Before 1978 it was called Portland-Zementwerke Heidelberg AG.
