The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrested two men who participated in a “violent plot to break into a family’s home at midnight” to steal tens of millions of dollars in bitcoin.
Between 18 May and 24 May 2020, the defendant allegedly planned to break into the property owner’s home at midnight and force them to give him the special codes of their wallets. At the time of the planned heist home, the Bitcoin price was trading at around $10,000. US Attorney Damian Williams said the following about the incident:
The defendants plotted to break into a family’s home in the middle of the night and seize the private key of the account they believed contained tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of Bitcoin.
