DM CEO Christoph Werner

Dusseldorf The history of the drugstore chain dm is one of continuous transformation. Since it was founded in 1973, the company has constantly reinvented itself. Christoph Werner, head of the drugstore chain and son of dm founder Götz Werner, took over the company around three years ago and led it through the pandemic.

In the Handelsblatt Disrupt podcast, editor-in-chief Sebastian Matthes talks to Werner about this change, but also about the future of retail and the responsibility of leading a group with over 70,000 employees in Europe.

In addition, Werner speaks openly about what he learned from his father, what his childhood in an entrepreneurial family was like, and how he went from being an intern at the cosmetics manufacturer L’Oreal to becoming the CEO of the largest drugstore chain.
