Dax currently: Dax defends the 16,000 point mark

Dusseldorf The Dax defended the 16,000 point mark on Thursday: In the first hour of trading, the leading German index was almost unchanged from the previous day at 16,021 points. On Wednesday, the Dax closed with gains of 1.5 percent. The closing price was 16,023 points, the high for the day was 16,044 points.

The surprisingly low inflation figures from the USA brought the leading index a significant plus. At 3.0 percent, the US inflation rate was significantly lower than expected. The rate was last as low as in June more than two years ago. Within minutes of publication, the Dax rose by 80 points. The gains then continued.
