Government’s Chief Economic Adviser V. Anantha Nageswaran gave a speech today at the event hosted by the Indian Research Council for International Economic Relations (ICRIER) ahead of the upcoming G20 Conference.

In his speech, he said that identifying consensus-based solutions to widen the scale and scope of the global community’s response to many challenges, such as the regulation of digital assets, will be a key goal of India’s G20 Presidency.

India, where the country’s central bank has called for a ban on cryptocurrencies, will now have an important role in framing global crypto regulation.

India will not only take over the G20 rotating presidency from December, but will also host the G20 Leaders’ Summit for the first time next year.

As host, India will set the agenda for the year by identifying themes and focus areas for economic growth.
