New Updates To Monero (XMR) Altcoin Will Be Released As Hard Fork To Network
The planned update will be a hard fork that will irreversibly change the blockchain. Nodes will either accept this update or leave to create a different Blockchain.
“Upgrade your software to Monero v0.18 today,” a Monero developer said on Friday, adding that users should check out the Monero blog post published in April that detailed the upgrade.
The upgrade, scheduled for Saturday, will offer a variety of features. Here are some of the expected changes and improvements:
- The number of signers for a ring signature will increase from 11 to 16 per transaction.
- Bulletproofs+, an upgrade of the existing Bulletproofs algorithm, will be introduced. Bulletproofs+ will reduce transaction size and increase transaction speed. The overall performance is expected to increase by 5%-7%.
- View tags will introduce a new way to speed up wallet syncing by 30%-40%.
- Fee changes will minimize fee fluctuations and increase overall network security.
- Multi-signature functionality will be enhanced and critical security patches will be added.
