Berlin After the controversial appointment of Michael Schäfer as managing director of the German Energy Agency (Dena), a new procedure for filling the post is becoming increasingly likely. The chairman of the supervisory board, the parliamentary state secretary in the Federal Ministry of Economics, Stefan Wenzel (Greens), believes that a clear cut is necessary.

According to a Dena announcement, Wenzel said on Wednesday that he would submit a draft resolution to the supervisory board that would provide for a restart of the selection process. “It is also proposed to re-advertise the position.” The search committee should also be broader.

The supervisory board will meet on Friday this week. Wenzel explained that the best way to achieve a clear cut is to use a completely new process.

One of the most important employees of Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens), State Secretary Patrick Graichen, had informed him that the designated new Dena Managing Director Schäfer was his best man. Graichen was a member of a selection committee that Schäfer had suggested for the post.
