Apple plans to hire fewer staff and cut spending

Bangalore According to a media report, the iPhone manufacturer Apple wants to reduce costs in certain areas in the coming year. The US company plans to slow hiring and spending growth in some business areas in 2023 in anticipation of a possible economic downturn.

The Bloomberg agency reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter. The changes should therefore not affect all teams. Apple is sticking to an ambitious timetable for introducing new products for the coming year.

Apple initially declined to comment on the report. The share turned negative on Monday in the USA after the news was announced and was last listed 1.6 percent lower.

Before Apple, other companies such as the Facebook parent company Meta, the electric car maker Tesla and some US banks had already slowed down new hires to prepare for a possible economic downturn.
