It has been revealed that Amazon is working on its own Linux-based operating system to replace Android on all its devices, especially Fire TV. Journalist Janko Roettgers revealed Amazon’s new operating system, developed under the code name ‘Vega’.

Roettgers announced that Amazon is developing its own iOS/Android rival operating system. Amazon assigned “hundreds of people” from the Amazon Device OS group for the new operating system.

Apple can break the habit of years with iOS 17.2 Beta. It is said that the company will allow sideloading (APK installation) in Europe.

Stating that the operating system is largely completed, Roettgers said, “It is estimated that Vega will be released with Fire TVs at the beginning of next year. “The software team is currently working to release the SDK, so developers will be able to move third-party applications to the new operating system before the operating system comes out.” He stated:

Sources stated that the new operating system will use a web-oriented application model and that developers will prepare applications with React Native, a JavaScript framework. Analysts explained that thanks to React Native, developers can write applications that will be quickly integrated into the operating system codenamed Vega.

According to analysts, Amazon’s ultimate goal is to move away from relying on Android for new hardware. It is not yet known whether the company will share its operating system with other smart device manufacturers.
