In early 2019, O’Leary was heavily critical of Bitcoin, which he described as “garbage”, but since then, the billionaire’s mind seems to have completely changed.
The Canadian billionaire is currently arguing that BTC has “the potential to save the world.”
O’Leary said in a previous statement that approximately 20% of his portfolio is “cryptocurrencies and Blockchains,” he said.

Earlier this week, O’Leary claimed in a statement to his followers that BTC mining would save the world. In his last statement to Fortune magazine, the billionaire said that he could spend the next 10 years in the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry.
Kevin O’Leary had been extremely harshly critical of BTC mining operations, which had previously been carried out largely in China. However, China banned cryptocurrency mining last year. Cryptocurrency miners still rely heavily on coal-based energy sources, thus undermining BTC’s ambitions to be greener.
