Shanghai Hall 8 is the home of the premium and luxury manufacturers at the world’s largest car show in Shanghai. Porsche, Bentley and Lamborghini are represented from the VW cosmos. Mercedes has placed its AMG offshoot in the area. One hall away, BMW has set up a huge stand – right in the field of view of the main Chinese attacker BYD.
No matter how thin the air in China may be for the established manufacturers. Volkswagen has even just lost its number one position in terms of sales to local competitor BYD. The premium segment, however, manages to stay within sight of the Chinese challengers – or even to differentiate itself completely.
Nowhere is this more evident in such a small space than at the “Auto Shanghai” trade fair, where the latest developments will be on display until April 27th.
