TikTok has been on the lips of internet users lately. Because you may encounter immoral content on the platform. These behaviors can even be done to collect donations, that is, to make money. This leads to criticism.
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Kırıkkale Deputy Halil Öztürk made statements about TikTok. Stating that the platform is widespread in the world and in Turkey, Öztürk stated that the number of users exceeds 1 billion, and this number is 30 million in Turkey.
The Turkish Grand National Assembly is preparing to give a moral lesson to TikTok!
The Turkish Grand National Assembly’s Digital Media Commission will discuss whether TikTok may face sanctions due to some immoral content.
However, Deputy Öztürk stated that his party is preparing a bill to shut down TikTok. For those who do not know, bill proposals prepared by political parties are presented to the Turkish Grand National Assembly, that is, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
Subsequently, the proposal is examined by the relevant commission. If it receives approval from here, it will be discussed in the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Here, MPs discuss the proposal and can propose changes. Afterwards, the proposal is put to vote.
The statement made by Deputy Halil Öztürk is as follows;
It is clear that TikTok, which contains a lot of immoral posts and tramples on our national values, should be shut down as soon as possible. I would like you to know that we are preparing a bill in this direction.
In this sense, it is once again reflected to the public that operations have been carried out and judicial investigations have been launched against account managers who create obscene content, generate income on live broadcasts, and share child abuse. At this point, I must say that the social media platform TikTok has literally turned into a swamp, and the swamp needs to be drained rather than fishing for flies in the swamp.
This is necessary, above all, for a healthy society in which we will raise our children. If morality disappears, the future disappears. A society whose morals are damaged or destroyed and whose national and spiritual values are damaged every day cannot prepare its future or build its future on solid foundations.
In this sense, it is clear that TikTok, which contains a lot of immoral posts and tramples on our national values, should be closed as soon as possible. I would like you to know that we are preparing a bill in this direction. I hope that our national culture and moral structure will never be damaged by taking the necessary precautions and steps against any elements that aim to disrupt the cultural codes of the Turkish nation.
