Why Brazil could soon be in demand again as a financial center

A fundamental shift in sentiment towards Brazil is taking place on the financial markets.

Salvador Recently, Robin Brooks of the Institute of International Finance (IIF) tweeted amazing things about Brazil. The country is well on the way to becoming the “Switzerland of Latin America”.

The reason, according to the chief economist of the World Bank Association: The impressively large trade surplus will bring external stability and a strong currency to the region’s largest economy. In the future, Brazil will play a fundamental role in Latin America’s economic and financial stability. The former Goldman Sachs strategist predicts: “Brazil will become the anchor of the region.”

The confidence is amazing. Brazil has hardly grown at all in the past decade and has been going through politically turbulent times for at least as long. Still, Brooks is not alone in his positive prognosis. A fundamental shift in sentiment towards Brazil is taking place on the financial markets.
