Ethereum Founder Vitalik Buterin Responds to Criticisms About ETH

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin recently addressed the ongoing discussions within the Ethereum community regarding the network’s transition from Proof of Work (PoW) to Proof of Stake (PoS). In his response to users on social media platform X, Buterin countered views that Ethereum should actually stick to PoW.

Recently, users have been commenting that it would be better for Ethereum to remain in the Proof of Work system that Bitcoin uses.

“PoW was also very centralized,” Buterin said.

“It just wasn’t talked about much because everyone knew it was just a temporary phase until PoS.”

“PoW was also pretty centralized,” Buterin said, “It just wasn’t talked about that much because everyone knew it was just a temporary phase until PoS.” He also added that the ETH network has probably mostly avoided ASICs because the upcoming PoS transition means no incentive to produce them.

Buterin, who first proposed the creation of Ethereum in 2013 when he was 19 years old, also included a pie chart of Ethereum PoW mining pools in his answer. The chart shows that the currently closed SparkPool has a 33% share, Ethermine has a 21% share, and F2Pool has a 11% share.
