Why bad investor sentiment is a good buy signal

Dusseldorf Despite the recent recovery on the stock market, private investors remain rather skeptical: According to the Handelsblatt survey Dax-Sentiment, in which more than 6000 participants took part, there has been a continuously negative mood on the markets since the second week of January this year. After its slight fall on Monday morning, the Dax has now climbed back above the 14,000 point mark.

Russia’s war in Ukraine, the sanctions, a rapidly rising inflation rate and the threat of a turnaround in interest rates are some of the many factors that are making investors pessimistic. In the Handelsblatt Today podcast, sentiment expert Stephan Heibel explains that poor investor sentiment can still be a good buy signal.
