Dusseldorf Concerns about ever increasing electricity prices have fueled the demand for solar systems enormously for months – since January an average of 11,000 photovoltaic systems with an output of one to 30 kilowatts have been put into operation per week. Because electricity is cheapest when it is not drawn from the public power grid but is produced on your own property.

With a photovoltaic system (PV system), solar power can be generated permanently for ten to 14 cents per kilowatt hour, depending primarily on the investment and operating costs.

For comparison: according to the Verivox consumer price index, end customers paid an average price of 42.11 cents per kilowatt hour for electricity from the public grid in May.

There are no other costs for a PV system – income tax is not payable on solar yields as long as owners of single-family homes have installed a maximum of 30 kilowatts of photovoltaic power.
