Huge collaboration from Turkish Airlines!

A cooperation protocol was signed between Turkish Airlines (THY), Airbus and Rolls-Royce. Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu and Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat also attended the protocol signing ceremony.

In his speech at the ceremony, Minister Kacır stated that Turkey offers its quality-oriented service approach in the civil aviation sector to the whole world. Emphasizing that Istanbul Airport played an important role in this success, Kacır stated that they developed Turkey’s aviation industry and brought the country to a leading position in high technology.

Stating that the cooperation program led by THY will strengthen Turkey’s aviation industry and further strengthen its role in the global supply chain, Minister Kacır said that the Turkish aviation industry now has the ability to develop and produce its own unique platforms.

THY and Airbus reached a new agreement. In this context, the production of 350 aircraft worth 20 billion dollars will be made in Turkey.

In addition to Minister Kacır’s statements, the Strategic Türkiye Advanced Program that THY will implement within the scope of this cooperation was also introduced. It was stated that the program will strengthen Turkey’s competencies in the aviation industry and reinforce its role in the global supply chain.

Focusing on Turkey’s success story in the aviation industry, Minister Kacır shared the important achievements and future goals of our country in the aviation industry. In this period when strategic steps are being taken to strengthen Turkey’s role in the global aviation and space industry, THY’s cooperation with Airbus and Rolls Royce stands out as one of the remarkable developments in the sector.

Civil aviation sector; Minister Kacır stated that it has introduced its quality-oriented service approach to the whole world, especially with the investments and projects carried out in recent years. We are making our aviation industry Turkey’s leading sector in high technology with main and subcontractors, SMEs, research institutions and universities.” said.

“Our civil aviation sector brings its quality-oriented service approach to the whole world, especially with the investments and projects we have carried out in recent years. Istanbul Airport, which is an important example of our country’s vision in the field of civil aviation, received the title of Europe’s busiest airport in just five years. It has transformed Istanbul into a global intersection point with its modern infrastructure and passenger experience. It has reinforced the role of Istanbul as a global center of attraction, a global finance and trade base that brings together continents and a tourism destination.

While we are building a Turkey that produces and develops technology under the leadership of our President in line with our vision of the National Technology Move; In this knowledge-intensive and advanced technology-oriented sector, we take our production and technology development capabilities to an advanced level, especially with the long-term perspective of the defense industry in R&D, innovation and production, and an approach focusing on paradigm shifts.

We are making our aviation industry Turkey’s leading sector in high technology with main and subcontractors, SMEs, research institutions and universities. Today, the Turkish aviation industry has the ability to develop and produce its own unique platforms.

Our unmanned aerial vehicles Bayraktar TB-2, Akıncı, Kızılelma, Anka, Aksungur, our fifth generation fighter jet Kaan, our helicopter projects Atak and Gökbey… Each of them is proof of the current position of the Turkish aviation industry and the rebirth of our failed adventure in aviation.

Our country’s companies are also strengthening their role in the manufacturing and supply chains of global companies day by day. Our aviation industry is among the supply partners of many global aircraft and engine manufacturers, especially Airbus and Rolls Royce, whose senior executives are with us today. We have the ability to produce all parts of the fuselage of a passenger aircraft.

All new generation passenger aircraft have a part produced in Turkey. Currently, sections 18 and 19, which form the rear fuselage and tail of the Airbus A320 family, the canopy of the A220, the middle fuselage, tail and ailerons (aileron) in the A400M project, Section 48, which forms the rear fuselage of Boeing 737 aircraft, the fan cowl and elevator, are manufactured in Turkey. we produce.

We have world-class advanced technology development and manufacturing capabilities in sheet metal, machining, special processes, additive manufacturing and composite manufacturing in aerospace structures. We brought the world’s fourth largest aviation composite facility to Turkey. Last year, we reached an export volume of one billion dollars and a contract size of 10 billion dollars in aviation structures. Our competent human resources in this field have reached 10 thousand.

Over the years, we have achieved a great technology development and production capability in our aircraft engine industry, where we have more than five thousand employees, one of the most important elements of our aviation industry. With the facilities we have built, today our country has the infrastructure to test all kinds of aircraft engine parts. We have production competence in fans, compressors and turbines for aircraft and helicopter engines.

We have started the mass production phase of TS1400 engines for helicopters and PD170 engines for UAVs. We produce KTJ1750 and KTJ3200 turbojet engines with thrust power of 1750 and 3200 newtons. We produced the prototype of our national turbofan aircraft engine, TF 6000. We have gained competence in the production of high temperature resistant nickel-based inconel and cobalt-based alloys in new generation material technologies, which play a particularly critical role in innovation and technology development.

We have recently successfully completed our first manned space science mission within the scope of our National Space Program. Within the scope of this mission, thirteen scientific experiments prepared by Turkish scientists at the International Space Station were carried out by our astronaut Alper Gezeravcı, who also served as a pilot at Turkish Airlines for a while.

In the coming period, we will initiate projects to conduct new scientific research at the International Space Station and strengthen international cooperation. We aim to become a global player in next-generation satellite development, improve our regional positioning and timing system, and secure access to space by establishing a spaceport.

We will realize our Moon project with our local and national unique hybrid rocket. We will increase our share of the global space economy, which is expected to reach 1.8 trillion dollars by 2035. We will make the most of the new technology development capabilities that space offers us.

As a result of long-term work, we have completed the production processes of our TÜRKSAT 6A communication satellite, for which we developed all critical subsystems locally and nationally. The localization rate of our national communications satellite TÜRKSAT 6A, which we are preparing to launch into space in July, has exceeded 80. When we commission TÜRKSAT 6A, Türkiye will be one of the 11 countries that can produce its own communication satellite..

Since 2012, we have issued incentive certificates for 144 investments in the aviation and space sector with a total investment size exceeding 4 billion dollars. With our investment incentives, we offer comprehensive and need-oriented incentive packages for investments that will strengthen production capabilities in high technology fields such as the aviation and space industry.

I hope that the cooperation developed by Turkish Airlines with Airbus and Rolls Royce, which will increase our country’s production capabilities, will also open the door to new investments. I invite all global aviation and space industry players to benefit from the advantages of our country’s attractive investment incentives, young and dynamic population and strategic location.
