It encourages young people between the ages of 1 and 1 to collaboratively solve world problems for social benefit within the framework of the “United Nations Sustainable Development Goals” using artificial intelligence and data science. Teens In AI is a catalyst for change that aims to inspire the next generations with responsible and innovative leaders who will shape the world of tomorrow.
IWD Global Techathon Ankara
Held for the fourth time this year, IWD Global Techathon has reached thousands of young people in more than 140 cities and more than 50 countries around the world. This global technology marathon, which has not yet been organized in our country, was organized by our local ambassador Oğuzhan Şinik, who met Teens In AI through AI4GOODINCUBATOR, another event organized by Teens In AI, and our organization team Zeynep Acar, Yasemin Argünhan, Büşra Mutlu, Egemen Başat, Ahmet Çifci, Naz Özcan, It will be organized for the first time in our country, in line with the important steps taken with the efforts of Defne Yeşim Turgut, Selahattin Sinan Güven, Engin Küçük, Osman Can Gükan and Ege Özbilen.
IWD Global Techathon is an online or hybrid organization that brings together innovative young people from around the world in teams, encouraging them to use artificial intelligence and data science and solving a global problem collaboratively.
IWD Global Techathon, which will be held for the first time in Turkey; It will take place on 9-10 March 2024, at Ankara Technology Bridge, under the sponsorship of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and Bilkent Cyberpark, with the participation of a total of 50 young people between the ages of 12-18.
IWD Global Techathon Semi-Final Process
At IWD Global Techaton, our team that comes first as a result of our competition will be entitled to participate in the international semi-finals to represent our country. In the semi-finals, only five teams evaluated and selected by the juries will advance to the final. Our global finals, which will be held online on April 25, are eagerly awaiting Turkish representatives!
IWD Global Techathon 2024 Theme and Mission
Inspiring inclusion, which is the theme of International Women’s Day 2024, has also been the theme of the Teens In AI IWD Global Techathon. This theme; Significantly shapes an inclusive AI ecosystem through the provision of key elements such as AI literacy, education, awareness initiatives, etc. The principle of “inclusivity” lies at the heart of our AI mission.
The World Economic Forum’s 2023 Global Gender Gap Report reveals a striking fact: Only 29.2% of STEM roles are held by women, and a similar percentage is observed in artificial intelligence. The urgency of addressing and regulating this inequality in the industry is also highlighted in our competition.
In line with this year’s theme; Young people who want to keep up with developing artificial intelligence and technology and shape their future; Within this techathon, they will first receive pre-prepared training on Python, project management, machine learning, artificial intelligence ethics and design thinking.
With the help of these trainings, they will be asked to adapt to team work and develop a project with their team within two days and present the projects they have developed to the juries. All these processes will take place under the mentorship of university students and young professionals who voluntarily participate in our event with the motto of teaching to learn.
We invite all young people between the ages of 12-18 who want to find a place in the future of artificial intelligence and technology to our event; We offer them unique opportunities to work with professionals, learn hands-on, strengthen their skills, connect with people through shared experiences and exchange knowledge.
