Dusseldorf Volkswagen is entering the second part of the year with more optimism. The group expects that the “semiconductor situation will continue to improve and that the company will benefit from a strong order backlog,” said the Wolfsburg car manufacturer on Thursday morning. A “clear recovery” in sales figures at the end of the second quarter promises a “positive development” in the second half of the year.

The VW Group also confirms its existing outlook for the second half of the year. Volkswagen expects sales for 2022 to be between eight and 13 percent higher than the previous year. In the operating business, the group expects a return on sales of between seven and 8.5 percent. After all, the automaker now wants to reach the upper end of the two intervals for sales and returns.

With the confirmation, Volkswagen is a little more cautious than other automakers. Mercedes had raised its yield forecast for the current year the day before.
