Berlin Of all medical groups in Germany, ophthalmologists have increased their income the most in recent years. In 2019, they came to an average of 346,000 euros gross per practice owner. This is an increase of more than 35 percent compared to 2015.
This means that ophthalmologists are still in second place in the income table of resident doctors. Radiologists earn the most with an average of 414,000 euros a year. They were only able to increase their salary by just under eleven percent between 2015 and 2019.
The information can be found in a separate calculation by the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds, which is available in the “Tagesspiegel Background” and is based on figures from the Federal Statistical Office on the net income per practice and the ratio of the number of practices and practice owners. Accordingly, the net income per practice owner in 2019 averaged 215,000 euros – after 190,000 in 2015 and 166,000 in 2011.
