Trump wants to end the Ukraine war quickly when he returns to the White House
Former President Donald Trump warned during an appearance in Washington that the war in Ukraine would escalate into a world war. “I will prevent World War III. We are now very close to World War III,” he told members of Concerned Women for America, one of the largest conservative and evangelical advocacy groups in the United States. Trump is running for the Republican presidential nomination to challenge US President Joe Biden in 2024.
Trump said he warned Putin during his time in office: “Don’t do it, Vladimir, don’t do it!” and threatened “serious consequences.” “He only believed me 10 percent, but that’s all it takes,” Trump said to cheers from the audience.
The ex-president is increasingly moving foreign policy into the focus of his election campaign. If he returns to the White House, he will “quickly end the war in Ukraine. “I will be your peacemaker, and I am the only presidential candidate who can keep that promise,” Trump said. Most Republican presidential candidates are skeptical about American military aid to Ukraine and NATO. Trump and other candidates are threatening to freeze billions in aid if they win the election.
