TURKSTAT Announced: Unemployment Dropped to 9.4 Percent

Turkish Statistical Institute, TÜİK, shared the current unemployment figures for our country at 10:00. According to the July 2023 labor force statistics announced by TÜİK, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased to 9.4%. This decrease in the unemployment rate decreased by 0.2 points compared to the previous month.

According to the results of the Household Labor Force Survey, the unemployment rate among people aged 15 and over was recorded as 9.4%, while the number of unemployed people decreased by 38 thousand people in July compared to the previous month, falling to 3 million 291 thousand people. When the distribution of the unemployment rate by gender was examined, it was estimated as 7.6% for men and 12.9% for women.

Employment Rate Increased

The seasonally adjusted employment rate was recorded as 48.4%. The number of employed people increased by 318 thousand people in July compared to the previous month, reaching 31 million 671 thousand people. When the distribution of the employment rate by gender is examined, it was 65.7% for men and 31.5% for women.

Seasonally adjusted labor force participation was 53.4%. Employment in the July period increased by 280 thousand compared to the previous month and reached 34 million 962 thousand people. When the distribution of the labor force participation rate by gender was examined, it was determined as 71.1% for men and 36.1% for women.

According to the medium-term program announced last week, unemployment figures will not change much in the coming years.
