Istanbul The shipping of small quantities of goods in particular can only be organized with a great deal of effort for many companies. Volkan Özkan and Murad Özsert have an idea how things could be better. Her start-up is called “Yolda”, which means “on the go” or “on the move” in Turkish. The two founders want to bring companies and forwarders together digitally and thus simplify logistics.

Yolda specializes in smaller, business-to-business deliveries, particularly less than truckload (LTL) deliveries. The two founders estimate the potential in the German market at around one billion euros.

Shippers can use the Yolda app to place their freight order including route and immediately receive three offers. “We use machine learning to be able to compare prices across different exchanges in real time,” explains co-founder Özkan in an interview with Handelsblatt. The prices should be competitive, he emphasizes. In return, freight forwarders can also log on to the platform and see the inquiries from the shipping companies.
