TikTok-like Feature Coming to Reddit

Reddit announced that it will bring a TikTok-like feature to the platform. The new feature will separate video and text posts, allowing a video-only stream to come to the app.

China-based TikTok, which has revolutionized its short video format, has enabled us to see similar features on many social media platforms. Instagram’s Reels service and YouTube’s Shorts service are the best examples of these. Now, a similar move has come from another giant platform.

Reddit launched the platform with its statement today. TikTok-like announced a stream. The new feature, which is stated to be available to users in the coming weeks, will allow text and video posts to be separated from each other.

The feature will look like this

If we open the feature a little more, Reddit has a new ‘Watch’ with the flow a video only department it’s added. In the other section, which will be called ‘Read’, there will be posts containing text.

The new stream reminiscent of TikTok, users subscribe to from subreddits and suggestions will include incoming shipments. Reddit states that it is currently testing the split-stream feature and states how users want to respond, and that it wants to bring it to everyone in the next few weeks.

The new feature will come to the sections located at the top left of the application. Here it normally included different post groups like “Home”, “Popular”, “News”, “Latest”. With the statement made today, it was seen that “Watch” meaning “Watch” and “Read” meaning “read” will be added here.

Reddit tries to simplify its implementation

The new changes show that Reddit is starting to focus on video content. Pali Bhat, one of the company executives, says that it may be useful for users to create a section devoted to video content, while also stating that things like adding reactions will come.

Also, these moves make Reddit’s app more simplification and part of efforts to gain more users. The platform, which has hundreds of millions of users, was trying to bring ease of use because it was criticized for its complex-looking interface.
