Dusseldorf In view of high inflation, anyone who helps companies to save currently has a good chance of finding a job with good pay. Controllers in particular are experiencing a boom among the financial professions. In 2022, 14 percent of the 606,956 job offers nationwide in the field of finance and accounting were looking for controllers who would ensure that a company worked profitably. In 2020 it was eleven percent.

In the first quarter of 2023, a total of 17,340 positions were open for controllers. These figures come from the job and skill barometer that the German Society for Personnel Management (DGFP) compiles together with the personnel service provider Textkernel, a spin-off from the University of Amsterdam.

The barometer shows how the need for certain professions is developing and which skills employers are particularly looking for. To do this, the tool evaluates job offers from more than 250,000 websites and eliminates duplicate ads. In the following, you can read what insights applicants can draw from the results.
