Dusseldorf CFOs are sounding the alarm: In a survey of 80 CFOs by the management consultancy Horváth, one in four fears that they will not be able to meet the legal sustainability requirements imposed on their company. Another quarter feel unable to integrate sustainability into corporate management at all. And 83 percent expect the problems to get worse. According to the tenor, there is a lack of qualified personnel.
The finance departments are under pressure when it comes to sustainability: legislators and investors are putting pressure on them, because employers should also check and adjust their business to see whether it is socially, ecologically and societally valuable. In the industry, these criteria are summarized under the abbreviation ESG: Environment (environment), Social (social), Governance.
