The Grand Finals of the PUBG MOBILE World Cup, one of the world’s largest esports organizations, were held at Istanbul Ülker Sports and Event Hall between 8 and 10 December. The champion of the tournament, where 16 teams competed fiercely, was the team from Mongolia, IHC Esports.
While IHC Esports was the winner of the championship, where 16 teams competed fiercely, the Award Ceremony of World of Wonder (PUBG MOBILE UGC Mode) and Ptopia Design Project (PDP), which PUBG MOBILE implemented as a global design competition for players, was also held in the giant organization. The winners of the competition, shazTOKYO, Al_JALID, Teg_kotya, QUIXK, MOBBIRDMAN and Kadir Deliduman (KAYGER), received their awards on stage.

The Grand Finals of the PUBG MOBILE World Cup (PMGC), where PUBG MOBILE, one of the world’s most popular mobile games, is held physically in different countries of the world every year and the best team of the year is selected, was held in Istanbul, Turkey.
16 teams from 10 different countries of the world competed in the tournament, which was held at Istanbul Ülker Sports and Event Hall between 8 and 10 December 2023 and had more than 86 million TL in the prize pool. However, the teams’ journey to the last 16 was not easy.

Firstly, the PMGC League Stage was held from 2 to 26 November and included 48 teams. 6 matches were played every day in the League Stage, where successful and specially invited teams from PMPL (PUBG MOBILE Pro League) and PMSL (PUBG MOBILE Super League) competed. Three different esports teams from Turkey took part in the League Stage: Melise Esports, Bra Espor and Next Rüya.
Although Bra Espor and Next Rüya were not successful enough to participate in the finals, Melise Esports, who finished the Group Stage in 9th place, qualified to compete in the Holding Stage. Here, the team that performed behind its rivals was eliminated and lost its right to participate in the Grand Finals.
Thus, the only Turkish team competing in the World Cup held in our country was S2G Esports, which was the world champion of the previous year and was invited to the event. Last year, the team won nearly 10 million TL as the champion of PMGC 2022, held in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia.

The Grand Finals, which provided an esports feast to its audience for 3 days, witnessed especially competitive matches between IHC Esports, Stalwart Esports and Alpha7 Esports. As a result of the matches, IHC Esports collected 142 points and won the PUBG MOBILE World Championship. The Turkish representative S2G Esports, the last World Champion, completed the tournament in 11th place by collecting 98 points.
World of Wonder and PDP awards were given
The Award Ceremony of the World of Wonder and Ptopia Design Project (PDP), which PUBG MOBILE implemented as a global design competition for players, was also held at the Grand Finals in Istanbul. Within the scope of the project, which nourishes the creativity of players and offers the opportunity to use their designs in the game, more than 500 thousand designs were created with PDP and more than 1 million maps were created with World of Wonder.
Awards were presented to the most successful participants of 2023 on the main stage, including 11 awards such as the Most Popular Design Award, the Best Clothing Design Award and the Best Level Design Creation. Among the award-winning designers were shazTOKYO, Al_JALID, Teg_kotya, QUIXK, MOBBIRDMAN and Kadir Deliduman (KAYGER).

PUBG MOBILE Global Esports Senior Director James Yang, who spoke at the event and started his speech by appreciating all the players in Turkey, said:Turkey is one of the most important countries for PUBG MOBILE. Our game is one of the most popular mobile games in the country. In the finals held in Jakarta last year, the world champion was S2G Esports, a Turkish team, for the first time. This year, we are organizing the Grand Finals in Turkey for the first time. Moreover, this will be the biggest World Final event in our history. As PUBG MOBILE, we started esports 5 years ago. Since then, we have continued to continuously improve our ecosystem. In 2024, we will make changes that will include more esports teams from all over the world into the ecosystem with new regulations. Our new global event PUBG MOBILE Global Open (PMGO) will be held between March and April. We will also make important changes in regional tournaments.” said.

PUBG MOBILE Global Esports Senior Director James Yang said that the most important reason for organizing it in Istanbul is that the game is popular and known in the country.If we organize such a large event in a country where the game is not popular, it will not be effective. Another factor is the presence of strong teams in the region. It has a serious esports and fan base. Another important issue is government support. Strong support is needed to organize such a large event. There are not many countries in the world that meet these three conditions. Up to this stage, we have organized the PUBG MOBILE World Cup in Dubai, Singapore and Indonesia. We are currently making this version in Istanbul. We are very happy with this decision” he said.
Ceza, Ece Seçkin and Hadise concerts were held
PMGC 2023, followed with excitement by e-sports enthusiasts, witnessed various events as well as PUBG MOBILE competitions. Famous rap artist Ceza took the stage on the opening day of the organization, where various concerts were held for 3 days. On the second day of the event, Ece Seçkin sang her popular songs, and on the last day, when the champion team was determined, Hadise gave her audience unforgettable moments.
PUBG MOBILE and Istanbul themed graffiti walls
Various art activities were also organized at PMGC 2023. Famous graffiti artists Doğukan Oraklı (Dukstill), Tunç Dindaş (Turbo) and Muhammed Emin Türkmen (MET) blended PUBG MOBILE and graffiti art with the designs they made on different “walls” set up for 3 days, and left important memories in the “galleries” of the event visitors.
