Zaporizhia The lady with the severe black eyebrows is not happy about the visit. “Who are you looking for?” she snaps at the journalists when they arrive at the agreed meeting point in the inner courtyard of a former Soviet palace of culture. “Maximum? There is no Maxim here!”
Luckily he comes around the corner at the same moment. “Ah, Maxim Tereshchenko? Say that right away!” calls the guard and slams the door behind her.
The distrust is not groundless. Tereshchenko is developing a drone for the Ukrainian armed forces in Zaporizhia. There are many spies and saboteurs who willingly pass on the position of strategic military objects to the Russians, the 44-year-old explains the secrecy. The southern Ukrainian city close to the front, which is also important because of its heavy industry, has been under fire for months. Factories are a preferred target.
