Heartsteel, the new band made up of League of Legends champions, has released its first single, PARANOIA, which gives us a glimpse into the band’s musical style. The track is currently available to stream on platforms like YouTube and various streaming services, and considering the history of League-related music, it’s poised for a rapid chart rise.
A new group has joined the League of Legends groups: Heartsteel
Unlike previous LoL groups, which tended to have a specific genre, Heartsteel brings together artists from different genres. This creates a track with different sections, where each verse of PARANOIA offers a different sonic experience.
While it has a somewhat confusing listening experience at first, it ultimately becomes a cohesive whole. It’s worth noting that it’s not as easy to sing along to as past hits like POP/STARS or the current Worlds anthem GODS.
However, in true Riot fashion, the production quality is outstanding and the band’s sound becomes quite memorable after a few listens. Expectations for more music from Heartsteel are high, and if they maintain this distinct style and keep things fresh, a full album would be eagerly received.
What sets the track apart is the variety of real-life artists lending their voices to the in-game characters. Heartsteel features League of Legends champions Ezreal, Kayn, K’Sante and Sett as vocalists, and each is voiced by a different artist. BAEKHYUN, a member of K-pop groups EXO and SuperM, lends his voice to Ezreal in the group.
Kayn is voiced by Los Angeles-based rapper Cal Scruby, known for his clever lyrics and creative visuals. Sett is played by singer-songwriter, music producer, artist and creative director ØZI. Finally, K’Sante is voiced by Tobi Lou, a multi-talented artist who has made a significant impact on the contemporary music scene.
