of The Sandbox Since the launch of the Open Metaverse Alliance (OMA3), 50 members have signed up for this nonprofit, according to co-founder Sebastien Borget and Dacoco co-founder and CEO Sarojini McKenna.
Borget also gave an update on The Sandbox’s “Alpha Season” metaverse experience.
Borget and Dacoco spoke at a press conference at WebSummit in Lisbon this week about a new consortium of Web3 firms dedicated to preserving Metaverse interoperability.
“Sandbox Will Always Be Open With User-Generated Content”
Borget then talked about the closing of “Alpha Season 3” of The Sandbox, a ten-week playable Metaverse experience showcasing entertainment events from brands like Warner Music Group, The Walking Dead and Bored Ape Yacht Club.
After the “exciting” holiday period, Borget said, “We want users to be able to stream directly to their territory in the first quarter of next year, meaning Sandbox will always be open with user-generated content.”
He also stated that creators will have access to “the same system they have implemented with the season, such as leaderboards, rewards, missions, and the like.”
Metaverse worlds The Sandbox and Decentraland came under deep criticism in early October after DappRadar’s statistical data revealed that these virtual worlds collected only 552 and 38 active users, respectively, in a single day (measured as unique active wallets (UAW)).
billions of dollars cryptocurrency Despite its valuation, the Metaverse space is relatively new compared to the digital collectibles market. At the time of this writing, the number of unique active wallets per day for Sandbox and Decentraland was 1,393 and 1,408, respectively.
