Dusseldorf According to a media report, the federal government expects the Federal Employment Agency (BA) to have a deficit of 18.3 billion euros in the current year by the end of 2021, which the federal government will offset with tax revenues. That emerges from the answer of the Federal Ministry of Labor to a written question from Left MP Jessica Tatti, from which the newspaper “Rheinische Post” (Monday edition) reports. So far, the BA had only planned a grant requirement of 16.7 billion euros.

As in 2020, the loan is expected to be converted into a non-repayable federal grant in 2021, the newspaper quotes the Ministry of Labor. “This means that the BA will be debt-free at the end of the budget year 2021.” In 2020, the federal government had already granted the BA a loan of 6.9 billion euros.

Overall, the employment agency will receive liquidity aid of 25.2 billion euros from tax revenues for both pandemic years.
